Job Description:

JOB TITLE: Principal Software Engineer

JOB LOCATION: 208 S. Akard St. Dallas, TX 75202[and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home.]

DUTIES: Principal Software Engineer needed by AT&T Services, Inc. in Dallas, TX [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to translate the core architecture for business requirements into final technical solution including platform, network, software,  and cloud  through functional, performance, and reliability analysis. Use engineering models and techniques, primarily through software development throughout the vertical stack. Lead software product development life cycle from inception to production launch and post-production support. Design modular and scalable web components. Lead large cross-organizational software development projects. Utilize current web and micro-service technologies. Design, code, test, debug, and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality, and operational needs. Align development teams to a shared technical direction and partner with those teams to elaborate the solution and its interfaces. Work with portfolio stakeholders, solution and enterprise architects to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enablers. Build high quality code following unit testing and test-driven development. Establish critical NFRs at solution level and participate in  definition of others. Drive and participate in code and document reviews and mentor team on best practices. Collaborate with peer organizations, dev ops, and support organizations on technical issues and provide guidance. Interpret and translate business needs to technical requirements and accurate estimates. Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance is achieved. Work with team to troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficiently. Apply deep technical expertise to resolve challenging programming and design problems. Work on scalability, security, and availability of applications and processes. Contribute to design and architecture to enable secure, scalable and maintainable software. Contribute to technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resource, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirements. Design and execute a cloud CICD solution with a modern GitOps based implementation that utilizes all elastic capabilities of new cloud infrastructure. Support cloud native app development and adoption of new cloud native technologies that meet the needs of software applications. Evaluate new products and technologies. Identify best fits and provide a solution to adopt said product and technology. Work on application delivery. Build Java-based high-volume and high-transaction e-commerce applications. Build web applications using Java, Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Webflux, and REST. Work on performance tuning and application monitoring. Work on architecture and design of systems using Micro services architecture. Build monitoring and automation tools using Shell Scripts and Python. Apply knowledge in Cloud Native Technologies with specific experience in developing applications for Kubernetes. Develop and use Custom Resources in Kubernetes. Integrate Kubernetes with cloud native applications including Prometheus, Grafana, MicrokK8s, MiniKube and Kind. Build applications, libraries, and scripts using Groovy. Migrate applications to Azure.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Biotechnology and  5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, or 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation working on application delivery; building Java-based high-volume and high-transaction e-commerce applications; building web applications using Java, Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Webflux, and REST; working on performance tuning and application monitoring; working on architecture and design of systems using Micro services architecture; building monitoring and automation tools using Shell Scripts and Python; applying knowledge in Cloud Native Technologies with specific experience in developing applications for Kubernetes; developing and using Custom Resources in Kubernetes; integrating Kubernetes with cloud native applications including Prometheus, Grafana, MicrokK8s, MiniKube and Kind; building applications, libraries, and scripts using Groovy; and migrating applications to Azure.

Our Principal Software Engineer’s earn between $160,000 - $254,300 yearly. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers.
