Government Spec System Design Engineer

MIDDLETOWN , New Jersey

We are seeking a Govt Specialist / Systems Design Engineer to perform systems engineering and management tasks on our team. You will be part of a group that will propose, develop and maintain network and application solutions for emergency communications for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This work includes developing functional analyses (i.e., infrastructure, workload, risk, benefit, etc.), technical solutions, and presentations, briefings, and white papers and to assist broader business development efforts by Team AT&T.

The System Design Engineer will work with partner organizations and customers to propose and develop system requirements and solutions for any project.

  • Must communicate within project teams to set deliverables and expectations (i.e., time/resource requirements).
  • Will work within industry forums to develop requirements relevant to AT&T's National Security / Emergency Preparedness products (i.e., GETS, WPS, etc.) Understanding of the AT&T wireless and wireline access networks, our TDM and IP core networks, and our OSS/BSS systems, signaling protocols (e.g., ISUP, SIP, XMPP), programming languages, and security required.
  • Application of OSI Layer 3 through Layer 7 knowledge expected. BS or equivalent in Math, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Some travel required.

Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance


Desired:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in communications service feature and enterprise systems design, development, integration, evaluation and test of enterprise-wide IT systems and NS/EP services.
  • Developing and implementing plans.
  • Must have proven ability to understand the broad picture (customer needs and service architectures), to analyze the inter-relationships of the multiple elements needed to implement complex communications services, and to embrace technical details (e.g., system engineering requirements and service flows.)

You have the ability to do different jobs and be challenged at all times.
