The Information Technology Summer Internship Program is a strategic program that enables participants to combine their coursework experience with the skills and real world experience needed to broaden their knowledge across the IT application development spectrum.


Through our student internship programs, participants will benefit from the combination of classroom theory and real world experience. They will receive on-the-job training where they can work with project teams.


Participants will be given hands-on experience and valuable knowledge that will last them a lifetime. They will make valuable contacts and get the inside view of telecommunications from the industry leader! Mentors are assigned to each intern.


Excellent written and verbal skills; basic network knowledge; strong communication and time management skills preferred. Self motivating and self managed and the ability to quickly learn technical processes.


This program is an 8-12 week program and curriculum may include one or many of the following disciplines:


· Development in: Java, J2EE, Oracle, C/C++, UNIX, HTML, XML, PERL, MS Office Suite, etc.


· IT Project Management

Requirements:


· Working towards a bachelors or masters in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, MIS or related technical field

Overall Purpose: Develops solutions to complex business and technical problems or issues of complex scope using advanced engineering and scientific principles.


Position Summary: This position must be able to perform System, Integration and Acceptance testing in support of enabling our broad portfolio of global managed security services across all market segments. They must be able to work with Enablement and Customer Care resources to develop complex, repeatable security services based on remotely managed technology located at the customer premises, in AT&T network or core services. Duties include functionality/performance testing, architecture, design, integration, technical writing, lab configuration, project planning and estimation.


The position is required to be a technical lead of a complex software network-security development projects, as well as individually contribute by developing software in several concurrent software developments. Software development includes Requirements, System Architecture, Proof-of-Concept/Prototyping, Design, Coding, Integration, and Test. It also includes Design Process Redesign, Software Re-use, evaluating alternative architectures, programming languages, research/open-source/commercial alternatives, etc.


Note the projects involved are large, complex, and have stringent security requirements. To provide guidance and assistance to other developers, this position must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Python/C/SQL/Java/XML/Cymbal/Ruby/Perl/C++ computer languages, and in software development processes.


The selected candidate must be a seasoned network security engineer willing to work with an established analytical/development security team that performs design, development, testing, integration, and real time tiered support of a managed network-based security platform.


Key Roles and Responsibilities: Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise.


Architecture/Planning -20%

This includes understanding complex routing issues, capacity planning, and security implications. Must be proficient in Microsoft Visio, and have deep knowledge of TCP/IP. Expert level familiarity with at least three of the following technologies: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Web-filtering, and Antivirus/Anti-spam, Frame Relay, IP, MPLS, Unix, Threat Management/SIMS, Forensics, testing deigns and tools, high availability and failover scenarios and test plans. Candidate must also understand scaled management and support systems and options for all of the above, as well as customized reporting solutions.


Testing – 40%

Will build test lab configurations to emulate customer network topologies. Valid test plans must be authored and executed using various load generation equipment. Protocol analyzers will be employed to examine results at various levels. Testing may occur remotely and in cooperation with other AT&T and vendor entities.


Documentation – 15%

Documentation responsibilities will include authoring technical communications to customers, evaluating request for proposal responses and solution documents - internal facing Operations, Administration Manuals, Engineering and Troubleshooting Guides, Deployment plans, and other supporting documentation.


Engineering – 25%

Selected candidate will be responsible for making adjustments to basic architectures affecting actual traffic load, patterns, and customer preferences. In some cases remote workers will need support in executing install routines with proper documentation and telephone support. Candidate may be required to interface with technical and executive customer representatives. Regular and clear status communications must occur in conjunction with Project Management principals.


Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATTs compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
