Provide lifecycle support for local and distributed communications systems. Systems include voice and video telecommunications, satellite systems, secure encryption devices, video teleconferencing systems, switchboards and switching systems, and wide area/long-haul cable trunks and circuits. Lifecycle support includes planning, installation, configuration, testing, operation, maintenance, management and administration functions.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain telephony systems including telephone switch (PBX) and associated interface hardware and software.
- Support telephone number assignments, changes and deletions, and maintain telephone directories and databases.
- Operate and maintain satellite telecommunications systems, including monitoring and troubleshooting satellite uplinks, downlinks and terminal equipment.
- Operate and maintain video teleconferencing systems such as Polycom, Tandberg, or Cisco.
- Provide user training and technical support in accordance with local service desk procedures.
- Administer secure encryption devices as authorized and directed by the government, including key changes and maintenance.
- Support tactical radio inventory, logistics, pre-deployment quality assurance testing and inspection, and shipping/receiving to/from repair facilities.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in PBX telephone system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficient in video teleconferencing system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficient in satellite telecommunications system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Working knowledge of DoD tactical radio and cryptographic equipment.
- Familiarity with secure telecommunications systems such as DRSN, Sectera, and STE.
- Familiarity with voice and video communications interface network interfaces, including VoIP and IP video teleconferencing.
- Capable of dealing with customers at all levels--including VIPs--in stressful situations.
- Capable of prioritizing and dynamically re-tasking work as situations change.
- Familiarity with U.S. Special Operations Forces processes, procedures and operations.
Education, Training and Certification:
- B.S. degree in communications or related field plus two years of experience; or two years of formal DoD training plus four years of experience in DoD telecommunications.
- Ability to complete required DoDD 8570.01 technical certification within first six months of employment.
- Commercial voice and video network education, training or certification preferred.
- ITIL v3 Foundations certification preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- This position is contingent upon contract award.
- TS/SCI clearance required.
- This position may require evening and weekend work.
- This position may require travel to various locations worldwide.
- The work is typically performed in an office environment and at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
