Provide full life-cycle operation and maintenance support for all network services, including installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, upgrading, patching, repairing and managing network distribution systems in support of local and deployed users at all security classification levels. Perform remote or on-site servicing, repair and installation of customer-owned network products. Provide network operations and maintenance technical support to customers and serve as customer contact on technical and service-related problems.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain network connectivity throughout the LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Plan network layouts and configure systems to support user environment.
- Analyze network topologies, traffic, and capacity requirements.
- Install, maintain and management intra-facility LAN/VLAN wiring, equipment, and software.
- Analyze voice, video and data communications networks; and plan, design, evaluate, select and upgrade network hardware and software; and configure communication media, concentrators, bridges and other devices.
Education, Training & Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred. Appropriate combination of professional certifications and experience required.
- Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification preferred. Military network administration training and experience may be substituted for junior and mid-level positions on a case-by-case basis.
- ITIL v3 Foundations certification preferred.
Experience:
- Verifiable experience with boundary security devices (proxy servers, firewalls, etc.).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in DoD LAN/WAN administration for junior positions, 5 years for mid-level positions.
- Experience supporting Special Operations Forces preferred.
Knowledge:
- Fully competent in managing and administering network hardware and software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing.
- Demonstrated understanding of network design, engineering, and routing and switching schemes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EIGRP, STP, VTP, ACLs and Layer 3 tunnels. Must understand how to monitor network devices in order to perform fault isolation and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with deployed military operating environments.
- Thorough understanding of principles, methods and techniques used in network administration and support.
- Working knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, terminals, and related network hardware.
- Familiarity with data center and desktop hardware, operating systems and applications.
- Proficient in the configuration, operation and maintenance of network devices, automatic call distribution systems, load balancing techniques, video bridges, and single/multi-point control units.
- Understanding of configuration management and change control procedures to include coordination and impact assessment of scheduled outages.
- Proven ability to lead or support the design, engineering, installation, testing and documentation of infrastructure components (cable, circuits, fiber, pipe and conduit).
- Working knowledge of TACLANE and FASTLANE cryptographic equipment.
Unique/Additional Requirements:
- This position is contingent upon contract award.
- TS/SCI clearance required.
- Must be able to obtain applicable DoDD 8570.01 certification(s) within six months of start date.
- Position may require shift and/or weekend work.
- Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations worldwide.
- The work is typically performed in an office environment and at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
