  5. Coordinates clearing of trouble with other groups and organizations, and works with other employees and / or customers in the maintenance and installation of wireless service.
  6. May move and / or lift material weighing up to a maximum of 60 pounds and drive long distances safely to complete job assignments.
  7. Works independently in MSC/RNOC/Wireless site environment, with minimal guidance or assistance.
  8. Perform Network surveillance and emergency response as necessary. May be required to be available for after hours projects, On-Call duty, and overtime.
  9. Performs installation and growth procedures as required.
  10. May perform switch/wireless site maintenance and software upgrades.
  11. May perform translations, use computer inputs to create, modify, and / or correct database contents, i.e. MSC and associated equipment.
  12. Respond immediately to actual or potential service interruptions as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS WHICH MAY BE REQUIRED FOR A PARTICULAR JOB:


  1. Coordinate with local telephone vendors for installation, testing, and maintenance of telephone facilities.
  2. Work with other team members, departments, and vendors as needed to ensure that all work efforts are done in a timely and efficient manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Must have unpaired hearing, able to communicate orally and via telephone.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors, read printed material, lift/carry 60 pounds, climb stairs/ladders, must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or work in other uncomfortable positions to accomplish tasks.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to work with hand tools. If applicable to position.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


TESTS:


  • May require minimum qualifying score on Basic Skills Test.

  • Requires minimum qualifying score on Ramsay Corporation Job Skills, Cellular Technician, Form TBS Test.

  • Must also have at least 2 years related technical training or equivalent experience. Or have minimum of 1-year time in title as Wireless Technician I, or MSC/RNOC Technician I.


SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be willing to work day, evening or night hours; overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and holidays as required. Must assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned, and applicable.

  • May require valid state driver's license, or CDL, whichever is applicable, and satisfactory driving record check.

  • May be required to be away from home location for extended periods of time.

  • Must have satisfactory job performance on current position, relating to work performance, attendance, and safety, to be considered for this position.

  • Perform on-site maintenance for routers, switches and modems, working closely with remote Engineering personnel

  • Perform Test & Turn-up activities for network components

  • Will be dispatched to customer sites

  • Act as hands & eyes for remote engineer for problem resolution, checking inside wire connectivity and device functionality.

  • Monitor Network until tested and released from site.

  • May be requested to change or load configurations for routers and switches

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Classroom, CED based, online and/or on-the-job training.

  • May be asked to assist with telephone PBX related work i.e. installations, repairs, etc

  • May be assigned to high visibility long term projects that require a great deal of organization, communication, and critical due dates.

  • Must work well independently and with little supervision while still meeting all objectives.

AT&T NORTHSTAR Air/Ground (A/G) Communications Technician:


The A/G Communications Technician provides critical voice and data communications to high profile government airborne


customers. From a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC), they provide communication services nation-wide via a


diverse and robust network of leased T1/T3 trunks and 28 Ground Entry Points (GEP)s. Communications Technicians


directly interface with the customer, turn-up services, test circuitry, isolate faults, defer maintenance to other offices, and


prepare reports. They conduct demand and preventive maintenance of NORTHSTAR network equipment at two Special


Government Operations Centers and 28 GEPs geographically located throughout the United States. Communications


Technicians may deploy, install, operate, and maintain tactical satellite and RF systems supporting government missions


within the United States and abroad. They are required to lift and load equipment weighing up to 80 lbs (160 lbs 2-person


lift). Required to travel up to 20%.


Candidates must possess a current government issued Top Secret Clearance granted or renewed within the past


five (5) years, valid driver’s license, superior customer service skills, and a vast knowledge of radio frequency (RF)


communications and analog/digital telecommunications. Candidates should have at least five (5) years experience


installing, operating, and maintaining communications circuits and equipment. A thorough understanding of encryption,


modulation, multiplexing, and networking devices and theory are preferred. Experience as a cable installer, system


engineer, radio maintainer, COMSEC custodian, Information Security Officer (ISO), or TACSAT operator is a plus.


Proficiency with MS Office is also preferred.

Qualifications - External

  • Cabling - install cables, connections and cross-connects to data center and customer equipment; utilize Fluke and Tberd testers; connect circuits using correct pin-out assignments; install/test/maintain/label Fiber, Cat6, Coax cabling per EIA/TIA standards

  • Installations - install (rack/stack/cable/configure) server hardware platforms and related equipment; install Windows, Unix, Linux, Sun Solaris. Review supporting documentation for operations and installation of hardware. Implement systems and software upgrades and OS config. changes. Install routers and switches and manage cabling for these devices.

  • Database - update inventories, work with multiple ticketing and database systems

  • Maintain a knowledge of building infrastructure (UPS, Generators, HVAC, Electrical components, Security and Surveillance systems and other facilities maintenance)

  • Interfacing with internal and external clients on a regular basis

  • May be required to lift over 50 pounds

  • Color perception is necessary in order to perform certain critical aspects of this job

These activities are the basis for capital deployment and allocation decisions. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for wireless and wireline infrastructure. May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Studies and forecasts traffic drivers to determine short and/or long term capacity needs.

May include all or some of the following functions: 1. Recommends strategic network architecture planning and network evolution policy decisions in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria; 2. Evaluates new and emerging technologies for addition and/or application to existing network systems; 3. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections; 4. This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T"s compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.


Required Qualifications


  • Associates degree in Engineering, Math or Sciences.

  • Ability to use the knowledge and skills in these areas to resolve complex problems: basic science knowledge, including Finance and Economic analysis and Engineering Economics; IP engineering principles (IP switch design and installation, VOIP, etc.), network system, equipment and architecture, power engineer principles (electric power transmission, telecom systems and standards (TCP/IP protocol, routing protocols (Static, BGP, OSPF), telephony engineering principles and wireless engineering principles.

  • Proficient knowledge of mathematical modeling principles (reliability analysis), network performance modeling (synchronization, vendor capability assessment, voice/data, switching), network planning (capacity planning, OSI network protocol design)

  • 3-5 years of progressive successful development



Desired Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math or Sciences.

  • Strong computer pc skills (Microsoft Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word).

  • Proficient knowledge of Access capacity management system, CAPRI, INPQ, JAM, LOGIC, and or NEMOS tools and software.
