The Database Administrator designs, develops, and implements complex physical databases across multiple platforms, technologies and computing environments.

Monitors the performance of databases and makes tuning changes. Oversees ongoing system capacity planning, forecasting, and tuning. Articulates information architecture. Consults with higher level resources to ensure consistency of recommendations with enterprise direction.

Works closely with technical staff and management to ensure implementation of database management and support tools for business application development requirements and processes in accordance with latest enterprise direction.

Responsible for application level database administration and related tasks, including development of Oracle database maintenance strategies and ongoing performance tuning activities. Good overall knowledge of the PeopleSoft architecture as well as performing installs, patching, and upgrading.

Responsible for implementing database architecture strategies. Strives to drive overall costs lower for database performance, data conversion, and administration services. Consults with IT staff and clients to determine the impact of new or revised applications on information architecture. Provides development and production support.

Responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through reasoned application of information technology. Designs, develops, documents and analyzes overall architecture of systems, including hardware and software. Determines integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs. Coordinates design and integration of total system including subsystems. Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.

• Good overall knowledge of the PeopleSoft architecture as well as performing installs, patching, and upgrading


• Strong database development and production support experience in a UNIX/Linux-based Oracle environment.


• Strong knowledge of Oracle 10g, 11g, Oracle security, UNIX shells - Korn shell, bash, perl. Good knowledge of UNIX - AIX, Solaris, HP-UX or Linux.


• Experience in RMAN backups.


• Experience with performance tuning and trouble-shooting skills with large databases (in excess of 1tb).


• Expertise in backup and recovery and fail-over methods and best practices.


• Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures.


• Advanced proficiency in network and system architecture (subsystems, interfaces, hw/sw dependencies).


• Proficient in message and conference systems and networks (multiple media, notification, presence, unified communications, video).


• Knowledge in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP network Address Management, Perf, Mgmt).


• Understands Virtualization, Storage and Content Delivery Networks (Cloud, CDM, Grid, SAN).


• Proficient in specifying and evaluating architecture requirements for RFXs.

• Knowledge of Oracle RAC is a plus but not required.


• AS/BS degree in Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field


• Enterprise wide deployment planning and support for mission critical applications for major releases, both business and infrastructure related

Knowledge - Seasoned technical professional who contributes through proven technical expertise in PeopleSoft applications and PeopleTools. Experience in major application upgrades and minor patching projects for PeopleSoft. Experience with tools 8.50 and above is preferred and familiarity with Oracle database platform is required (10g or higher). Ability to perform PeopleSoft System Administration function including application configuration and optimization. Extensive experience in PIA architecture and PeopleSoft technologies including integration broker. Experience with PeopleSoft modules in Financials, CRM or Supply Chain is preferred. Competency in PeopleSoft development and ability to program using PeopleCode, SQR, Application Engines is also required.
