AT&T Principal Technical Architect Oracle DBA

Location: Atlanta, GA




Job Duties:


The Database Administrator designs, develops, and implements complex physical databases across multiple platforms, technologies and computing environments.

Monitors the performance of databases and makes tuning changes. Oversees ongoing system capacity planning, forecasting, and tuning. Articulates information architecture. Consults with clients and collaborates with internal application specialists.

Works closely with technical staff and management to ensure implementation of database management and support tools for business application development requirements and processes in accordance with latest enterprise direction.


Responsible for application level database administration and related tasks. Requires knowledge of the PeopleSoft architecture as well as the ability to execute Oracle database installs, patching, and upgrades.


Responsible for implementing database architecture strategies. Strives to drive overall costs lower for database performance, data conversion, and administration services. Consults with IT staff and clients to determine the impact of new or revised applications on information architecture. Provides development and production support.

Required Skills:



  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in support of PeopleSoft applications

  • Strong database development and production support experience in a UNIX/Linux-based Oracle environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle 10g, 11g, Oracle security, UNIX shells - Korn shell, bash, perl. Good knowledge of UNIX - AIX, Solaris, HP-UX or Linux.

  • Experience with PL/SQL and cloning technologies.

  • Strong database and process tuning abilities. Experience with performance tuning and trouble-shooting skills with large databases (in excess of 1tb).

  • Expertise in backup and recovery and fail-over methods and best practices.


Desired Additional Skills:



  • Certified Oracle Database Administrator

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in support of PeopleSoft applications


  • Experience in RMAN backups. Knowledge of Oracle RAC, Dataguard, OEM Grid Control, Oracle Data Vault, Oracle VM, Partitioning

  • Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures.
